What happens with the money raised?

Money raised from Ulinzi Walk will benefit BCIEA’S implementation of the community-based Breast/Cervical Health Curriculum that emphasizes:

-  “Early Detection as the Best Protection” against cancer by teaching women and men the importance of: self-breast exam, self awareness, clinical breast exam, mammogram, Pap smear and vaccination. Using evidence-based risk reducing/preventive practices such as behavior/ lifestyle change, nutrition, weight management and exercise.

-  Accessing available health care services as soon as possible.

-  Providing support for women and men facing financial challenges after diagnosis such as transportation to and from the hospital/doctors office, telephone charges, lodging/food related to medical needs and free/subsidized screening where available.

-  Production/translation/publishing of culturally appropriate educational materials and tools.

-  Data collection and evaluation of the program.
