Ulinzi Walk
Did you Know
- Breast Cancer is the most common cancer among women, other than skin cancer.
- 1 out of 8 women will get breast cancer in her life time. Most of us have been touched or know someone who has had breast cancer.
- Whereas no known cure is currently available for cancer, cervical cancer is preventable through risk control and vaccination and can be treated when detected early.
Ulinzi Walk is symbolic of what is to come in the future. It is not about how far you can run or walk, it is about commitment to the cause of fighting cancer. When people come together with a common purpose they bring about change. Together we can bring about the change we need and want. Everyone has a personal reason for participating in the Ulinzi Walk. It could be you, a sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, friend, neighbor, or even your spouse or uncle. Cancer knows no boundaries and as we walk we join thousands of others worldwide who share our passion and commitment in the fight against this deadly disease.
This walk supports BCIEA Inc’s mission: To ensure that no patient faces breast cancer (or any cancer) fearfully and helplessly alone by providing care and support they need; while we also support and participate in the ongoing research to find the cure. Cancer is a disease that affects the patient, the family, community and society at large. That is why all of us must be involved in the fight. We must be willing to volunteer, fundraise and become proactive. Even if you have never raised any money before, you can become an incredible fundraiser. Experience teaches us that shared passion breeds amazing generosity among people who are committed to making a difference.
The goal of Ulinzi Walk is to increase awareness about breast and cervical cancer and raise money to support education, screening, treatment of these cancers and to support outreach programs for families impacted by these diseases.
“What you know cannot kill you.”
- Kinyarwanda Saying
Every step you take counts towards stamping out these devastating diseases!
